Walking with Emily

Hello! Just a short blog today. We took Emily to her physical therapy appointment yesterday. Kelly said Emily is doing much better on her feet and the inserts and shoes are helping her. Poor Jon got to go in the room this time with Emily and he said she got stressed out again. Emily does not like doctor's offices at all! But once she calmed down a little bit, she was ok. Still, we hate having to see her that way. Emily is wanting to walk more and that's great! She walks with us holding her hands and walks by herself holding onto the walls or furniture. She's gaining more confidence everyday. So I'm sure we'll have lots of pictures and a huge announcement when she finally walks independently. Thanks for your prayers and support!

Emily at 23 months

Ahhh, where did the time go? My baby girl is no longer a baby anymore! I guess this past year I've realized Emily's a little person with her own personality. She's learning news things everyday and is as happy as can be most of the time.
I just wanted to update you on how Emily's doing with her walking. As some of you know, she was diagnosed with low muscle tone and recently got her orthotic inserts. She is doing really well getting used to wearing the inserts with her shoes. She normally wears a size 4 but I had to get her a 7.5 wide shoe to accomodate the inserts. Her confidence with walking is increasing which makes us really happy. She is now holding on to our hands to walk and cruising between chairs and furniture. Our hope is that she'll take those first independent steps by her second birthday. And I'll finally be able to write that down in her baby book!
It's funny how we take some things for granted like being able to walk. It's so simple and we do it without thinking. But we forget that we all had to learn this important skill and for some of us, it didn't come instantaneously. I'll blog more to keep you updated. Thanks for checking in!
