Emily Walks On Her Own

We are so excited to announce that Emily is finally walking on her own! At her last physical therapy appointment on Wednesday, she took her first steps independently. The physical therapist, Kelley, had me sit in a chair and put Emily standing at another chair a few steps away from me. Emily did not like that at all and kept crying but she was determined to walk to me! Kelley kept moving Emily's chair further and further away from me and each time Emily walked on her own back to where I was sitting. I was amazed! Emily finally got over her fears and started walking around the room by herself. When we walk outside, Emily still seems a little unsure of her balance and where she is so she holds onto our fingers for support. She doesn't need to do that but I think she feels more stable that way. In our house she walks on her own and when she gets tired she'll crawl or use furniture to cruise. I'll post pictures soon. I'm so happy she walked before her second birthday which is next Friday, the 15th!
